The Ordinary level ( O' Level) of Education is a 4 year long program. During the first two years of O'level (S.1 to S.2), the students  are exposed to a number of subjects that are compulsory. These subjects consist of;

1. Life Sciences: Comprising of mainly Introductory Biology and Agriculture.

2. Physical Sciences:  Introductory Chemistry (Organic and Inorganic), Introductory 
    Physics

3. Formal Sciences: Computer Science (Not yet examinable) , Mathematics and
   Technical Drawing

4. Languages:   English and French

5. Social Sciences: History (East Africa & West Africa), Geography (East Africa, North
    America and The RHINELANDS and BENELUX countries), Christian Religious
    Education, Political Education.

6. Business Subjects: Commerce and Accounting (Accounts)

7. Others: Music, Fine Art and Literature in English.


During the last 2 years of O' level, students are allowed to take a total of 10 subjects from the above pool with Mathematics, English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics being compulsory.

Average age of admission to O'level is; 13 years to 16 years. There are no stringent rules on the age during admission.
