White Horse Inn is located on Makanga Hill, in the centre of Kabale town, just off the main road to Kisoro district. The turning is right before the Post Office to your right.
White Horse Inn gets its name from the former European settlers who rode their white horses on the hill in the area formerly referred to as Kigezi district. In 1922, a settler’s wife, who came to be known as Keishamaza, converted her personal house into a lodge in order to provide settlers with accommodation while in the region. The hotel grew in size to become the only hotel providing high level accommodation.
The hotel was later taken over by the Government of Uganda and was managed by the now defunct Uganda Hotels.
With the era of privatisation that swept through Uganda in the 1990’s, the hotel was sold to private individuals who have preserved the unique attributes of this jewel of Kabale town and while at the same time improved on its standards.
A number of world dignitaries like the former president of The United States of America, Jimmy Carter and Microsoft founder Bill Gates have in the past been honored guests of our hotel.
A number of summits and high level Bi-lateral meetings between Uganda and Rwanda have been held and continue to be held at the White Horse Inn.
Facilities
The whitehorse Inn has 39 standard rooms, 1 suite and 1 presidential suite (two bedrooms) are available at the White Horse Inn. The standard rooms come in the form of cottages, seven of which are inter-connected and convertible to semi-suites. From the linen on the beds to the drapes on the windows, a touch of class is evident and an attention to detail is clearly paid.

All the rooms are self contained, have satellite TV (DSTV) and a 24- hour access telephone to the reception for anything ranging from an extra blanket to a midnight snack.
The relaxing hotel bar is fully stocked with a variety of both local and foreign product, more than enough to cater to your every desire. So if you want to enjoy a glass of fine wine by the gardens or a cup of freshly brewed coffee by the warm fireplace, The White Horse Inn is the place.

In the cosy dining hall, a fine menu awaits you selected by our in house professional chef. Over the years the hotel has built a reputation for offering the finest cuisine in the entire Southern region of Uganda, and maybe even over the nearby borders. We offer the finest in local & continental dishes. This coupled with our great service; it shall truly be an occasion for you to savor.

The newest addition to the hotel is the fully equipped business centre open 24-hours a day, so you don’t need to lose your business relation. Wireless internet is provided free to all hotel clients which covers the entire gardens, dinning, bar and some parts of the rooms, as well as a wide range of office related materials all on hand to ensure that you can still communicate and be able to carry on with your work without any interruption while being our guests.

Our expansive gardens covering over 5 acres of lush green and well manicured compound is truly a sight to marvel at. From here you have a breathtaking view of the undulating hills of Kabale and the not so far off Mufumbiro mountain ranges. The gardens are a great place for bird-watching, to have a picnic or even take an evening stroll. It’s also a great place to hold special occasions such as wedding parties and other outdoor activities.

We have two conference halls that can host seminars, meetings and even weddings. Our Makanga hall, named after the hill on which the hotel stands can accommodate up to 150 people while our smaller hall, Keishamaza, named after its European founder and the original building of the hotel can handle more personal and smaller functions with a capacity of up to 50 people. Projectors & other equipment are also available on request.
In our in-house residents lounge, guests can make use of the pool table, darts board & a selection of board games, books & magazines.

Our presidential suite is one like no other. This self supporting habitat comes with its own kitchen and living room. Two master bedrooms each with full bathrooms, Steam shower and a Jacuzzi included. It truly is fit for a King.
The large and secure guarded parking area has the capacity to handle any number of vehicles and at the same time ensure safety.
